From the Vice Chancellor's Desk
With the blessings of Hon. Chancellor Shri Anil Baijal, support of the Education Minister & Dy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia, mentoring by the Members of the General Council & Board of Governors and the Guidance of Members of Academic Council, DPSRU, is now getting transformed from latent phase to active phase. In the year 2019, we had Second Convocation, signed the MoU with World’s first Pharmacy University, the China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing, had visitors from Canada, USA, Australia, Germany, Malaysia, Thailand, & Syria for lectures as well as initiation of research projects in collaboration with our University.
As a follow up of the International conference on herbal drugs in 2018, we visited the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and interacted with various research institutions there to undertake research projects and signed MoU with Hunan University of Chinese Medicine for mutual collaboration for ‘Phyto-pharmaceutical Drug’ development. The research projects with innovation and incubation got really geared up and we launched through our Chancellor, a research based the first in India nutraceutical formulation for the critical care patients in collaboration with Alniche. In our Incubator Center (DIIF), out of 16 Start-ups our 5 are with success stories. Loopus Weartech, won the prestigious Hackhavard Global Award in Elderly Health care category by Harvard University of USA. The Praecisio of Dr Geeta is approached by Takeda, Japan for validated cost-effective cold chain Shipping Solution, Holycon with Positive Liquid, Brajkush Devise produced HOCl having DRDO as customer, Evol Medicine with Eco Smart Air Mask are all ready for marketing. Out institute has now the DBT-BIRAC BioNest BioIncubator 5 Crores grant received. DPSRU is the only University selected by Lufthansa, Germany for second consecutive year for the Impact Week Design thinking program. Last year our University published over 200 papers, filed 2 patents and our faculty and students got 56 awards.
Quality education and welfare of the students is one of the major thrusts for us. This year 72 B. Pharm. students got qualified in the national competitive examination GPAT, probably the highest in the country among pharmacy institutions. We have now 113 Ph.D. students and about two third have either Government scholarships from ICMR, DST, CSIR etc. or scholarship aid from research centers like DRDO, THISTI, IPC and pharma industries.
On social and hospital front our BPT Center is now getting over 700 patients per month and it has been consistently increasing. My thanks to our OPD staff for their efficient handling and infusing trust to patients. We signed MoU with Apollo Hospital for Pharmacovigilance program and organized the International conference on Pharmacovigilance. Ours is the 1st University of GNCT of Delhi to have started and continued to get students in second batch also for the WCSC courses in Sports Sciences and Beauty and Wellness.
DIPSAR and this year it got status of the Nodal office for Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) of All India Council for Technical Education. DIPSAR conducted four QIP in 2019.
On students’ front besides academics and research enrichment as mentioned above, and various extra-curricular activities were organized within and outside the campus of the university. Some of such activities include celebrations of World Physiotherapy Day, World Pharmacy Day, National Pharmacy Week. Independence Day, Republic Day, National Voter’s Day, Annual Sports Day and National Science Day in addition to festivals like, Lohri, Vasant Panchami, Guru Parb and Iftar party etc.
On behalf of the University Staff and Students including our founder institute DIPSAR, I wish all the stakeholders of the University a Great progressive 2020. May it be the most exciting year like the cricket format ’20-20’
